I went to Bud and Brittany’s wedding reception last night as a guest, they were married in the Denver Colorado LDS Temple yesterday and had a reception for friends and family to come and celebrate in their union afterwards.
The reception was held at the Louviers Village Clubhouse, A cozy and quaint location! With great lighting!
The Bride and Groom, who just happen to be fantastic people, looked amazing! And you could see how happy and in love they were/are! And the people who filled the room were a true testament of how amazing Bud and Brittany really are!
After congratulating the happy couple, I went and found Kristen, the Photographer, and asked her if it was cool that I take pictures during the reception- and because she is so awesome, was like, ‘totally’! I did my best to stay out of her way while at the same time tried to think of myself as a second shooter. Now mind you, I have gone to plenty of weddings before and always take pictures, but this was the first wedding I’d been to with the thought of, “I could be a photographer…”, so I took picture! I tried to get good shots of the Bride and Groom, their family and guests as well as the details… I did all of this, but I now also see that I missed SO MUCH!-but hey that is why I’m learning! The night went well. As far as I know I didn’t get in Kristen’s way-and I made sure I didn’t use my camera’s flash, because I didn’t want to chance ruining any of her pictures.
The only down side to the night, which I’m very grateful I had to experience, and am lucky I experienced it as a ‘guest’ and not ‘the photographer’! was this, towards the end of the reception I was in the side room talking with some other guests and Brittany comes up to me and asks if I can go outside with her and take a picture of her and her sister-Kristen was somewhere in the other room. So I followed Brittany out side, where it was VERY dark to take the picture. Well here I am trying to take this picture and it’s not working, I try turning on my flash, changing my settings, using a car’s lights as something to focus on, and NOTHING IS WORKING!!! I felt so bad! But Brittany’s sister had to go and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with my, still new, camera, so we went back inside with out the image. Luckily, Kristen had gotten a picture of Brittany and her sister! But I was still clueless as to way I couldn’t get that picture, to I sat down to figure it out, and guess what, my memory card was full. Yes, it was full! I felt like such an idiot! But then I take a closer look and see that my camera only has 340 images on in, and I know for a fact that it has taken a lot more then that! I’d never, while having this camera thus far, run out of room on the card so I had not yet bothered to buy an extra one. And was still very puzzled! Well when I got home and uploaded the images to my computer I figured it out, earlier in the week I had changed my camera from taking JPEGS to RAW images-because I’m still learning and experimenting with my camera and thought I’d see what it would do. So as the images are uploading I see that for every shot I had taken three images were being uploaded! No wonder I had no memory left on my card! Haha, yes I do feel silly about this, but I am SO SO grateful that I learned about this now rather then later! So a note to myself: get extra memory cards!
