Duncan's New Born

Duncan was just a couple weeks old when I met him. He is simply a little bundle of cuteness! and yes, I am a bit bias being he is my cousin's baby. Elena and I have been friends our whole lives (a plus with having cousins your age)and from an early age we both knew our own path would be quite different from the other’s. Duncan was a road down Elena’s path that we were, and are, all so excited to be a part of.

Before taking photos Elena and I just visited for hours (we tend to do that when we get together) and I just held little Duncan. I honestly didn’t want to put him down. He was just so sweet and so precious. Truly an amazing gift! As I held him I thought back to the night Elena called to tell me she was expecting- I did a happy dance! I knew how long she had waited and how much she wanted the little peanut growing inside her and I couldn’t have been happier for her, or so I thought. While I held Duncan and talked with Elena about motherhood, and then a bunch of random things, I saw the contentment Elena had and I knew she was on the path she was meant to be on and that made me SO happy for her! In fact I felt ecstatic for her and in that I just felt an awesome joy that I could be a small part of it!

Duncan was great while talking photos- he just let me do my thing! I’m excited to see this little guy’s life unfold.

These Shores Of Safety

Last month while I was in Wyoming, I met up with a local band to take photos. I came across this band because back in the day, I was in track with Kenny, the lead guitarist and the last little while I've been seeing him post things about his band on Facebook. Well as soon as I discovered that he had a band, I was like, "YUSSS!!!" (Napoleon Dynamite arm included!) Because taking photos of a band had been on my "photography to try" list since I first started seeing where photography could take me in 2011, but didn't know of any bands till now. So back in February when I ran into Kenny at Wyoming State Wrestling I asked if he and his band would be interested in some photos and luckily he was down!

I met up with the guys on location, an old Co-Op, for some band portraits. As I introduced myself to the other three members: Koty, Jake and R.J. I immediately knew I was in for a great photo shoot! Off the bat, these guys were taking advantage of the fact that I didn't know them, trying to make me look like a fool by telling me they played country-techno! Haha! From there on out it was just laugh after laugh- it was FANTASTIC! They made the experience fun with the jokes, energy and the fact that they had to work SO hard to keep a straight face!

After we finished up with the portraits we headed over to Koty's garage where the band practices for some "behind the scenes" shots. Now I'll tell ya, these guys have some talent! Their style of music is screamer rock (not quite sure of the correct genre name) and I think they are really good at it! As someone who in the past tried to learn this distinct kind of scream, I know how much talent it takes. Individually these guys have some legit talent! (I wish I could play any thing as well as they play their instruments!) but seeing them play together is a blast! Their energy is contagious and it’s cool to see how much fun they have just playing together. It was like I was at a private concert and I loved every minute of it!

Koty: Lead Vocals
Kenny: Lead Guitarist
Jake; Base
R.J.: Drums

How cool are they?!

You guys were awesome! Thanks for helping me out!!!

Tina & Tom Engaged!

The sun was hot and the air dry. There were energetic people every where, as is expected when there is a concert at Red Rocks. I was waiting by the Trading Post for my couple to arrive and couldn't help but think back to my observations of Tina and Tom's relationship. How seeing their love for the other, grow so quickly and confidentiality. Seeing them together always makes me happy!

Tina and Tom are two of the most wonderful people out there! Both of them are sweet and fun with energetic personalities. I feel so blessed to know them as friends.

Tina and Tom first met at a game night a mutual friend was hosting. There were a lot of people there and not enough couch space when Tina was looking for a seat. Well, Tom was sitting in an over sized one person chair and offered her the little space next to him not expecting her to actually take it. And Tina thinking she'd never see him again (that factor giving her a strange confidence) and wanting a place to sit, went for it.

When I asked Tom, "what we're your thoughts when you first saw Tina?" he simply replied "WOW!"

And later on that night he made his move: He took Tina out to try his longboard. As she stood on the board Tom steadied her by holding on to her waist as he guided her around the street.
When they started dating Tina didn’t think it would go anywhere and wasn’t sure if she really wanted to, but it was something fun and exciting. But as time went by she started falling for Tom and knew she didn’t want it to end.

The love that Tina and Tom have for each other is sweet, real and confident. They truly do love each other and help the other to be better. I think this is why I love seeing them together!

we found a deer and tried to get some photos...

and to finish off, here is a photos with an artistic feel
