The light from the streetlamp illuminated the darkness, the air was worm and smelt like recently fallen rain, the only sounds were the birds waking up and my feet swishing through the grass as I walked to my car. I set my duffle bag in the back seat and sat behind the steering wheel. I checked the time: 4:30am, in eight hours I would be home! I turned the key in the ignition put the car in gear and I was off!
I was headed home for my little brother’s high school graduation, but planned to get as much family time in as possible.
Graduation, if I’m being honest, was really boring! But I definitely did have that proud big sister moment when my little brother walked across the gym floor to received his diploma. And then of course my favorite part, PICTURE TIME!
The rest of the weekend I pretty much visited with my family and took some photos of a baby and a band! Those photos will be coming later. And then all too soon it was time to leave. I had to get back to run the BolderBoulder with my sister on Monday (Memorial Day)

Because we are all going up, not all the siblings could make it home- but that's ok because State Wrestling was more important for Jake and we all made it to that!

Before Michela and I crossed the START line we talked about if we should just run together the whole time or not. We decided that if one of us felt like going ahead we would do so, but if our pace matched then we’d just stick together. Well within the first mile I broke away and went ahead. It wasn’t really that the pace we were at was slow, it was more that I couldn’t handle being behind so many people. It was at this point that I decided I would try and accomplish my goal of running the race, a 10k, under and hour, instead of running for fun this time. The race was fun! Though, a lot of it was uneventful. I did have to stop and walk at one point, but when I started again I had more energy. I finally crossed the finish line! Then walked the cool down path and found Michela and her boyfriend Stuart. Apparently Michela had just come in minutes behind me, but It had taken so long to find Stuart that she found him first =P As we sat around watching the rest of the events I got a text with my race time: 59:39!!! Hey under an hour is under an hour!!!
I made Tutus for Michela and myself to wear while we ran (I’m strangely a huge fan of dressing up for fun races!)
And here is a look at what will be coming to the blog in the next little while
